RI+DGE Philosophy & Anthropology Program

Dealing with Complexity

This research program aims to find ways to go beyond self-contained symbolic systems that typically represent development. Development studies need to deconstruct prescriptions, recipes, or self-contained models, and bring contextuality and complexity back into development inquiry. The manyfold complexity and richness of social, political, and economic life, for example, demand rigorous research deep enough to better understand intercultural and multicultural diversity as well as the interplay of uncertainty, ambiguity, and discontinuity in sustainable development endeavors. This program supports cutting-edge research to interrogate these challenges in the context of the current civilization crisis.

RI+DGE Business Science Program

Strategic Knowledge for Strategic Decision-making

It is a research program addressing both quantitative and qualitative dimensions of business, markets, and the economy. Typically, business professionals make decisions based on management principles and economic theory foundations along with formal models and quantitative methods. This is good but not enough. They lack the skills to understand the underlying social forces and informal processes explaining the organizational change, technological disruptions, markets behavior, and economic development trajectories. The RI+DGE Business Science Program assembles both a) the formal and quantitative approach to business development, and b) the informal, spontaneous, and qualitative dimensions of business governance, market behavior, and economic development.

RI+DGE Exponential Technologies Program

New solutions for old development problems

We link technologists and scientists to design new solutions for old problems that companies, governments, and communities still need to solve. This research program focuses on exponential technologies that are driving accelerated technological convergence and innovation in such a way that propels change and creates new development opportunities.

RI+DGE School of Government

Re-thinking public policy from the bottom up

RI+DGE School of Government strengthens your skills to create instruments and programs for public policy, evaluate technical, legal, and political feasibility, and design pilot tests before implementation and scaling up. We help you expand your skills for analysis and design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of public policies with local relevance and global coherence.
